Both sides moved in towards each other. The Nials stayed fairly close to the Sharlin. The Centauri started bunching up the Vorchans, keeping the Sentri close by for fighter support. The two Primi also bunched closer together, but still fairly close to the Sentri and Vorchans. OK, I admit it - it pretty much looked like an unruly mob rushing the Sharlin. ;) (Yeah, i was Centauri again, but this time we rolled dice to see who'd take the Minbari *grin*) At one point, the Primusi were a little ahead, and the Sharlin targetted them, but not the Vorchans. The Vorchans took the opportunity and surged ahead, two of them taking shots at a range of 5 hexes. They were pounced by the Nials, one to each Vorchan. The Sentris also got in there, but only two had a chance of hitting (to-hits of 0 and 2). The Centauri were frowned upon by their goddess of Luck, and about 2/3 of all their to-hit rolls were 14 or higher. None of the Centauri main weapons hit. One Primus was hit by a Neutron cannon in sustained mode. One Vorchan had its front fall off (talk about embarassing!), the second was neutered and the third lost its plasma accelerator, and #4 BARELY had it's plasma accelerator survive (1 pt left, but it suffered a critical, AND it was one that already fired). Two Nials were forced to drop-out, the paint was scratched on three others. The next turn, the Primus which was subject to the sustained mode shot lost out on Initiative (both it and the Sharlin rolled 3's!!!), but it still managed to maneuver so that the Sharlin could not keep it in its arc. The Sharlin likewise maneuvered so it was out of that Primus' Battle Laser arcs. The third Primus maneuvered so it could get a shot with one charged Battle Laser at a range of 1. The Nials all pounced on the Primii, 3 Sentris jumped the Sharlin, and one other went after a Nial. Several more Nials got bored and left. A Battle Laser and about a dozen Twin Arrays took out a couple Fusion Cannon and made scarred a Neutron Cannon and some structure. One Primus developed leprosy, and its port side fell off. At that point we had to call it quits because we got a late start and were slowed down because one player was late. Depending on how initiative would have gone the next turn, the Centauri might have been able to inflict some more serious damage to the Sharlin. Maybe. I think the Centauri were going to lose, but depending on how Initiative went, they may have been able to do SOMETHING. :). Oh, and Vorchan #1 had begun a pivot so they could at least watch the battle as they ra..err.. drifted away. :) (In case you're wondering, I just can't decide which plural of Primus I like better.. :) Suggestion on Jammers vs. Fighters. Instead of killing off all the Offensive Bonus, just cancel up to X amount of it, or halve it. The Centauri are the closest race in tech level to the Minbari, yet their Sentri are penalized the most due to the Jammers by losing that +7. Ouch. As for Jammers vs regular ships. Very dangerous. If the Sharlin had kept its speed up, and just circled around - taking advantage of that flat turn cost at high speeds, it would have been much harder for the Centauri to close and get effective shots. It doesn't seem too unreasonable compared to what we see in the show, but the point value is low (I think everyone's pretty much in agreement on that... but this was our first try with Minbari, to see how things worked out). I've got a couple other suggestions regarding fighters, but that'll wait for a later post.. (The Centauri are still scratching their heads over how this battle went... They're original plan didn't seem to have worked - they hung what appeared to be glowing Triluminaries on the fronts of their ships to make the Minbari think they all had Minbari souls so they could close range quickly!!) - jamie coleman ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ivanova's rule #34: Always make sure that whatever looks dead, stays dead, and will not have any ideas about not being dead at any time in the foreseeable future.
