The Altarian, while being great at ripping individual systems off an enemy, is really not very good at destroying one. It also has incredible fighter defense (5 twin arrays!!). Whereas, the Vorchan, with its incredible lack of defensive systems, does pack enough of a punch to wipe out basically any enemy. This difference may define the line between "escorts" (IE, destroyers, frigates, corvettes, etc.) and "warships" (IE., cruisers, battleships, dreadnoughts, etc.) for the Centauri. The "warships" of the Centauri navy are designed to destroy enemy capital ships. The "escorts" are designed to destroy key systems on enemy capital ships and protect friendly warships from fighters. As such, the Vorchan is clearly a "warship" and that is why, in the show, the Centauri use it as such. Once we have more medium and HCV vessels in the game, I imagine players will start using it as such, too. Which brings up an interesting point: try paring 3 Altarians w/ 3 Vorchans. Nice combo- the Altarians swoop in and use called shots to elliminate enemy heavy weapons. Next, the Vorchans come in and destroy them. One might point out that the Altarians will take a lot of fire from the enemy. True, but have you SEEN their structure??? One wonders if they were not DESIGNED for the role!! --Alex F _____________________________________________________________________ You don't need to buy Internet access to use free Internet e-mail.
