Date sent: Sat, 4 Jul 1998 13:01:14 -0400 From: Steven W Rushing Subject: [B5W]: Minbari SJ Battle Result Take 1(long) To: "INTERNET:babylon5-wars@CSUA.Berkeley.EDU" Send reply to: babylon5-wars@CSUA.Berkeley.EDU Games Played at cerebral hobbies on 980703 Minbari: 1 Sharlin, 3 Tinashi, 9 Nials (Ellis) Narn: 3 GQuon, 2 Tloth, 3 Rongoth, 9 Frazi (Steve) Special Rules: Tourney rules and setup and Minbari SJ (no jammers existed for Minbari units: no power back and reroll jammer hits) Results: After 15 turns and 9 hours in which every single turn including turn one saw internals scored... a draw/very-marginal-minbari-vic was decided based primarily on hunger. it was even enough to continue for a while. major guns had just fired so a turn or two of sniping would follow befoe rearming. Combat flew into extra maps in every direction during the conflict Analysis: Tinashis are at least 705 BPV SJ. The overall result was a cpmpetitive matchup where any mistake could have swung th tide. The end result was a wounded but still viable Sharlin against a large collection of wounded narns. Imagine a great elephant wounded and being swarmed by injured wolves. Impression is that for tourney setup, Minbari current BPVs ignoring jammer are correct. Next playtest will be another 5K duel with Minbari SJ vs Centauri this Sunday. Again we encourage other group to playtest tourney duels SJ minbari in hopes of getting a base bpv on which to either add new jammer effects or to possibly determine the viability of "jammerless" minbari in tourneys. For the number crunchers amougn you... Summary of units status after turn 15... Sharlin: Front had 14 structure and one damaged neutron left (all else gone). Right was gone. Left was scratched. Rear had lost 1 fusion, had one crit on neutron gun, and had lost over half of main thruster and it suffered a real outlet crit. Primary had lost half of primary structure. Moving at speed 7. Tinahsi #1: KIA with loss of front side resulting in off map . Tinashi#2: Slowing desperately as he had no rear thruster. Front had lost neutron and fusion and 1 ep gun and one thruster, left with one ep gun, one fusion, and a damaged thruster and half structure. Rear had lost main thruster, all weapons and most structure. Was stopping to enabble sniping after going into retro speed one. Tinashi#3: See tinashi #1, same thing. Nials: 3 nials remained but were staying mostly away from narn forces after turn 10 because they were the "third" ship earning the minbari the initiative +1. GQuon#1 Front lost both lasers and had a damaged emine. Left had lost most of structure but nothing else. Right and rear had lost a pulse cnnon and a little structure. Speed 9, still combating. GQuon#2: Front had lost lasers, twins, and pulses and about 1/3 structure. Left had lost all systems and was hanging by 8 structure. Right had lost twins and pulse. Rear had lost one thruster and one twin with some structure and thruster damage. Center has scratches. Combat at speed 9. GQuon#3: Front untouched. left gone. Right too half structure and the thruster was gone. Rear untouched. Had slowed to speed one (it can turn!!) and just turned and planted both lasers and emines onto the sharlin!! Combat at speed one. Rongoth#1:Front gone. Rear lost light pulse cannon. Had been flying for 11 turns arranging rearward strikes with twins and LPGs turn after turn after turn. Ended game 2 hexes forward center of sharlin with the sharlin on its rear. Fired all twins and pulse hitting!!! Speed 9. Rongoth#2 Front hanging by a three box thread but when all but the twin is gone, you do not need much. Rear had some structure and one thruster gone. Sensors and primary structure took some damage but no crits. Was right beside Rongoth#1 in running right in front of sharlin and showing its ass... (twins and pulses hit) speed 9. Rongoth#3 Destroyed on turn 4 after firing second pulse cannon slavoe. Tloth#1 Front had most structure, one thruster (damaged) and one pulse cannon left. Left had lost both plasma, most of the thruster and some structure. Right was untouched. Rear has lost one thruster. Suffered cnc hit which penalized initiative. Suffered reactor crit forcing 3 pulse cannons offline. Speed 9 still fighting. Tloth#2: Front had lost one pulse cannon and had a structure scratch. Right was gone. Left had lost one pulse and one plasma and suffered a structure scratch. Rear had lost half structure, one thruster and had damaged all thrusters. Nials: Went to great beyond on turn 8 or so after dogging rear of tinashi#2 for turn after turn after turn... No one gave up. Ships without heavy weapons maneuvered for support weapons fire. Neutron cannons fired at GQuons in sustained mode at least once. Summary of weapons fire... neutron cannons fired every time the cycled turn 1, 4, 7, 10 etc along with rear one firing as well. fusions fired all the time tho the sharlin did take them offline early for thrust and sustaining fire on turn 7-8. Plasma cannon off the tloth.. 8 weapons fired 3 times each for 24 shots with over half hitting. Heavy laser cannons ... 6 weapons fired 16 times with 12 hitting. Heavy pulse cannons... 6 weapons fired 10 times and were all gone by turn 4.. (yes they fired on turn 1 scoring a 5 pulse hit on the sharlin ) Of course, then they became twin seeking weapons. EMines fired 38 times (6 guns) scoring 60 points on sharlin and 40 points on Tinashis and (unfortunately) some damage to frazis and rongoths too. Drift is a b@tch) Twins, pulses, fusions fired again and again every turn as both sides maneuvered to get shots with these secondary weapons.
