Send reply to: babylon5-wars@CSUA.Berkeley.EDU for purely scientific reasons mind you (and for the pure strange fun it it), last night the GhostSquadron ran a 5k dual, EA ~vs~ Raider flights, with the following (abridged) results.... 168 raider fighters (5,040 points) in 28 full flights. ) 1 Omega, 3 Hyperions & 6 full flights of Fury's (5,093 points) the raiders were able to engage all 6 flights of furies with few casualities (lost about 2 flights), then fighter sweep across all 4 warships, swept back again and again. end result.... 1 omega stripped of her port structure (4 of the surviving flights hung off that side and blasted her), 1 junked hyperion and 2 damaged hyperions. about 9 surviving flights of raider fighters (52 total fighters). EA elected to withdraw as the omega was taking primary hits (and slowly loosing primary structure). the battle was run by 4 players (2 on either side), with alot of unusual die rolls along the way, one volly from 3 raider flights stripped a hyperion manuvered to defend the 'open' side of the omega of most of her weapons-after that point, that hyperion was pounced on by 2 flights who forced her to withdraw). our overall opinion was that the point system still needs "tweeking", as there might still be some errors in in as, in the opinion of most of us, this battle was won due to 'tactical luck'. i write this review not for criticism, but rather to show another test of the fight listed. please don't flame us..... ...the rich sean parker worte: > The reason for having a PV is so no matter what ships I take they > should be a match to what ever my opponent takes as well. Say for example > my opponent takes 5000 points in an even mix of Cap ships and fighters, > and I take 5000 points in Raider fighters. Now for the Point Value system > to be an effective balancing tool, my 5000 points of raiders should be > equal to whatever my opponent has chosen. This unfortunately is not the > case. My 169 raiders took on 1 Omega, 2 Hyperions, and 30 Starfuries, and > after 9 hours of play (28 flights of raiders is alot to deal with) all > raiders were dead, the omega had light damage, one hyperion had lost a > side, the other intact, and only 14 Starfuries remained. This to me was > not a well balanced game. -- Medina Area Quantum Uncertainty Ideas Section “The Pen IS The Sword” http://pages.sssnet.com/maquis AIM: RiHaan ~~ ICQ: 13015032
