But in a nutshell: The Q'Quan and Olympus fought at speed 9 and the Vorchans held at 10. After closing for two turns the Vorchans and G'Quan were closing head on at range 10-12 and the two Olympus were on on diverging courses on either side of the Q'Quan. The Vorchans and G'Quan exchanged fire at range 10-12. The Vorchans got the best of this taking nothing but some structure, 2 non-crit. system hits and a lucy primary taking out a port thruster. The G'Quan lost most of its forward weapons, including the heavey lasers, and one thruster. The Vorchans player ignored it after this figuring it would be awhile turning around. At this time one Olympus also got a hit with a rail gun and removed a twin array from a Vorchan. The next turn the Vorchans turned to port in order to engage the port side of one Olympus which by now was attempting to pivot to bring it's launcher and rail gun into play. The other Olympus, now behind the Vorchans and turning to starboard launched two missiles which hit one of the Vorchans aft taking out structure and one aft thruster. The Vorchans fired on the pivoting Olympus taking out a bit of structure and the port thruster. (No more pivots for him.) At this point guests arrived and things had to be shut down. The Olympus player was convinced, as he always is when we don't have time to finish, that he was about to execute the Corbomite/Piccard Manuever and win the day. The Vorchan player (me) kind of figured that since we were using a fixed map and the Olympus was not going to be able to pivot back in time without its port thruster the fight was about to become one Olympus vs. 5 Vorchans and was "gonna be fun!" That's about it. Draw what conclusions you can. Since we were not using any fighters the weak fighter defense of either side never made much difference. The Olympus player has a kind of unique tactical doctrine that seems to involve getting his ships isolated from the rest of the fleet and then spinning out of control of the map. For what it is worth I thought the Olympus a good ship to have in your fleet. 650 points does not seem out of line. 500, as I think someone suggested, would certainly be too little. I think I could be talked into about 575 though. Rob "Running With Scissors" Schultz ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com
