Battle reports take time to create. I won't normally make them for non-playtest games. As the Octurion is no longer in playtest, well, there you have it. Our most recent usage of the Octurion was at a local convention last weekend. It was a matchup between a 12000 point Narn/EA fleet versus a 12000 point Centauri/Raider fleet. The Narn/EAs had 1 Bin-Tak, 1 Omega, 1 G'Quan, 1 Hyperion, 2 Ka'toc, 1 Dag'Kar, 1 T'Loth, 3 Rongoth, 3 Thentuses, 30 Starfuries, 18 Frazis, and 36 Goriths. The Centauri had 2 Octurions, 2 Primuses, 3 Centurions (1 was actually a Dargan), 2 Mograths, 1 Vorchan, 1 Maximus, 3 Havens, 72 Sentris, 12 Rutarians, and 24 Delta-Vs (assumed to be operating from raider ships in Hyperspace). Ships started in opposite corners of a 50x32 map. On turn 1, Narn hit with 3 out of 6 E-mines, destroying one twin on a Haven and doing some structure damage to a few ships. In return, the Centauri hit the Dag'Kar with 4 Battle Lasers (should have hit with many more, but he rolled VERY badly). On the second turn, the Narn fired 4 Emines, and also the ion torpedoes. The Ion Torpedoes did no significant damage, but 1 E-mine took out a squadron of Delta-Vs. Narn/EA Heavy lasers destroyed a Centurion. I forget what the Centauri did this turn, but whatever it was, it wasn't very effective. On the third turn both fleets closed, with the forward elements of each fleet actually passing up those of the other. In a massive exchange of fire, the Dargan and one Haven was destroyed, a Mograth and the Vorchan lost their rear structure, one Primus and one Octurion lost a side, the other Centauri light vessels were severely damaged. All three Narn Mag Guns hit their targets, doing additional damage to both enemy and friendly forces. The remaining Centurian and Primus were ALSO heavily damaged, and the last Octurion was singed, but not significantly damaged. The fighter groups also took damage. The Centauri Sentris inflicted significant damage, killing or damaging around 30 fighters. 15 Sentris were killed or damaged. No Rutarians were killed or damaged nor were the remaining 12 Delta-Vs. The Narn G'Quan was destroyed. Both Ka'Tocs, one Rongoth and one Thentus were heavily damaged, but the remaining ships were virtually untouched at this point. Plasma streams WERE fired, but the ones fired at the G'Quan didn't matter because it was heavily overkilled. A Ka'Toc and a Rongoth were hit by plasma streams, weakening armor. At this point we had to wrap it up. We had intended to play for several more hours, but had learned that the parking lot was closing at midnight, and if we wanted to go home we had to stop then. That was too bad, we were having a lot of fun! Analysis: I guess we DO try out the various ships after all, eh? > >This also goes for about 1/2 the other debates on this list. If you >really think something needs addressed - don't keep arguing about it. >Everyone can do that just as well. If, however, you actually take it out >in battle then report said battle (so we can all see that the actual >system is at fault instead of bad tactical decisions or bad luck) we can >all see your point! > Since when did you develop psychic abilities? You have no idea what most of the people who post to this list have experienced. >And please, if someone reports several battles with consistent results >that harmonize with other people's results DO NOT ARGUE WITH IT unless >you have actually tested it! WRONG. The purpose of this list is to discuss things relating to B5W. People don't have to play every single little thing in order to argue about them. I don't have to play a game to know that 3d10+10 every turn would be disgusting on a fighter (for instance). Yes, this is an extreme case, but I think it makes my point quite well.
