Systems used: New AOG rules (ie -2/hex T.A. etc.) +5 per ship class for init. bonus. Roll for each fighter to hit, both hits do same damage but both roll loc. Damage value adjusted by: -2 per die for Capital Ships +2 per die for Medium Ships +4 per die for Fighters: Centauri: Mograth Darkner 2x Vorchan vs. Narn: G'Quan 2 Flights Frazi Starting Range 50. The battle lasted 7 turns at which point the G'Quan + 3 Frazi were destroyed, one Vorchan and Mograth had lost their rear, one Vorchan had only a pair of structure boxes on rear. The system seemed to work well. Overbearingly high damage was not a problem in general. My biggest problem was the fact that it just isn't worth bothering to shoot with a to-hit number below about 10. I have further suggestions I will place in the next post. Detailed Summary: Turn one: Everyone is turtled but the Darkner who goes full EW, ships close and Darkner fires one B.Laser, hits for a light 6 damage. G'Quan uses E-Mines and rear facing pulse to get an extra EW. Turn two: Darkner and G'Quan go full OEW at each other. Darkner uses B.Laser in piercing mode. It absorbs a 54 and a 14 point H.Laser hits. It does 42, and hits the sensors. Sensor crit is rolled. G'Quan has no sensors next turn! Turn three: All Centauri accelerate max and go full EW attempting to alpha strike G'Quan. Mogroth and Darkner are range 4-5 and Vorchan are back at 12. Frazi settle behind Vorchan. The Mograth does heavy damage with two Matter Cannon and one Twin Array shot (15,17 & 20 dmg.), the Darkner would have blasted in with the one ready Matter Cannon, but a 32 point shot hits a pulse cannon. The Vorchans fire the Plasma Accelerators, but without much effect. The Frazi pick on a Vorchan doing between 7 and 11 damage per shot. Turn four: The G'Quan tries to go offensive and the Centauri go defensive except for token OEW at Frazi. One of the Frazi lose initiative to one of the Vorchan but continue after the damage one. All four units end up in one hex having entered as Vorchan/Frazi/Vorchan/Frazi. The Frazi pour damage into the already hurting Vorchan tearing off it's rear. One flight of Frazi takes damage to 3 members (twin array shots for 12, 12 and 9 damage). No one else has any good shots. Turn five: The G'Quan goes turtle while the Darkner and Mograth circle around. The Vorchan both lose initiative to the Frazi, but the good one circles off. Both Frazi follow the active Vorchan as the damaged one will require 3 turns to slow to a turning speed. The only damage is Frazis pouring into the good Vorchan damaging it. Turn six: The G'Quan tries to go after the disabled Vorchan, everyone else is turtle while turning except for the the Vorchan being dogged by Frazi which has 4 OEW at each. At this point all three damaged Frazi have dropped out. The Vorchan gets lucky and wins initiative over the damaged group of Frazi again. They hit the brakes so it can't possibly get them into arc. The Vorchan chooses to circle back around toward the G'Quan. The only fire is Frazi which almost takes out the back of the Vorchan, but not quite. Turn seven: The G'Quan gives one EW toward the Darkner and the rest defensive. Then Centauri are all at the G'Quan. It loses initiative horribly and the Mograth, Darkner and healthy Vorchan manage to get right behind it at range zero. With the Frazi close behind (range 0 and 2). The G'Quan gets horribly unlucky and practically misses with all four twin array shots at the Darkner and misses totally with both lt. pulse. Mograth hits hard with the plasma cannon (30 damage) and hits with two M.C. (10,0 dmg.), and 4 Twins (14,8,6,5 dmg.) The Darkner barely hits with the Battle Laser (6 dmg.) and hits with two M.C. (30, 15 dmg.) Finally the Vorchan blasts into the G'Quan with four twins (20,16,16,6) and a perfect shot with the P.A. (rolled a 1) for 69 damage! This damage is enough to finish the G'Quan, although if the P.A. shot had been just a bit less accurate and 4 or higher had been rolled it would have survived this exchange. At the same time the nine remaining Frazi ripped into the back of the Mograth and destroyed the aft and part of the primary structure (fighters doing 8, 9, 11, 12, 12, 14 and 15 damage). The remaining Frazi are assumed to have surrendered. This battle could definitly gone either way. Brian -- End --
