One of the constants of civil war is that warriors are too often finding themselves having to kill former friends. And sometimes, they still are friends, or family. In this battle in the EA Civil War, two small fleets have met. The officers in command of the Omegas and Hyperions are all good friends, and would probably leave the war if they actually killed any of their comrades. But, for the good of the planet, they are willing to try and knock the other SHIPS out of the war, if not the crew. Player #1 (Sheridan's Army of Light): 1 x Omega Destroyer: Monitor 24 Standard Starfuries 1 x Hyperion Cruiser: Io 6 Standard Starfuries Player #2 (Clarke's Earth Alliance): 1 x Omega Destroyer: Union 12 Standard Starfuries 12 Thunderbolt Fighters 1 x Hyperion Cruiser: Juno 6 Standard Starfuries Set-up: Set up the map as follow: A B C D E F There is a jump gate in the center of "D" map. The battle is played over the Eradanii Jump Gate. The AoL player has just come through the point and is set up in the same hex, facing "B", speed 7. The EA player is waiting to enter the gate, setting up 15 hexes away (in direction "B" from the gate), heading "E", speed 2. Victory conditions. Points are awarded for damage to enemy ships ONLY. For each box destroyed on an enemy ship, your side receives 10 points. For each box destroyed on a fighter, your side receives 1 point. If you destroy a ship, its value (in points) is subtracted from your total. If you destroy a fighter, 1/10 of its value (in points) is subtracted from your total. The points are calculated by keeping a running total during the turn of damage. At the end of the turn, the number is added to the total. After twenty turns, both sides have had enough and will disengage. Special rules. Two flights of starfuries on the AoL Omega Monitor have one level of ace status. The Hyperion also has an expert helmsman. Optional rules: Ramming: Ramming is not allowed. Missiles: Each Thunderbolt has four missiles. The new missile rules are in effect (IE., missiles are fired before any movement at targets within 10 hexes. Roll to-hits during the weapons fire stage of the turn). Fighter cover: The playtest rules for CAP (CSP) is in effect. Comments: This battle is quite a trick to win, since you have to inflict as much damage on the enemy as you can without destroying him.
