Which, of course, was not good for Sheridan since he had so few of them. They were particularly good at blasting WhiteStars, with all of their particle beams. And, they were lethal to the tenous supply lines behind the advancing AoL forces. In the Neothyne system, two Omegas frequently produced problems for shipping and had even earned a nickname - "Two Sisters". A strike force was sent out to destroy them as Sheridan was about to send a fleet through a nearby system, and didn't want their supply lines harassed. Player #1 (Sheridan's Army of Light): 3 x Hyperion Cruisers: Io, Nemo, Juno 6 Standard Starfuries Each 2 Vorchan Cruisers 12 Sentris Player #2 (Clarke's Earth Alliance): 2 x Omega Destroyers: Hito, Yamamoto 24 Standard Starfuries each Set-up: Set up the map as follow: A B C D E F Their is a jump gate in hex 2215. The EA forces are within 15 hexes of the jump gate, any facing, speed 8. The AoL forces can enter from the jump gate or seperate jump points within 5 hexes of the jump gate, any facing, speed 7. As usual, their jump-in points must be recorded secretly before the EA players places his forces. Victory conditions. Points are awarded for each side based on the total point value of the enemy ships it has destroyed. If the AoL player does not destroy at least one Omega, he loses. If he does destroy one, victory is determined by a comparison of the points each player scored, highest winning. If the AoL player destroys both Omegas, he wins regardless of any other event. Optional rules: Ramming: Ramming is not allowed. Fighter cover: The playtest rules for CAP (CSP) is in effect. Comments: An excellant battle. Great demostration of different levels of technology. The Omegas are far better at standoff capability, and can engage the Hyperions with the Heavy Lasers. Whereas the Vorchans, which have to close, will be pealed apart by the particle beams. The EA player should thus concentrate on keeping his ships together at long range. The AoL player will have to split his forces. Again, as the EA player has space superiority, the AoL player should concentrate on using his fighters defensively. By: Alex Fulton
