I'd say since it is an older Hyperion the reactor is not as efficient as newer ones and the ship gains no power from lossing the lasers. Now all I need is to figure out how much damage is neccessary for two flash effect attacks, since this is how the nuclear warheads of the Mag Gun are handled, that can destroy a Sharlin or a Shargoti if that is what the Black Star was. Course the projectile effect of a shattered asteroid might have helped.
