The Centauri being the Heirs to the Throne of the Kingdom of Idiots are fighting a war of expansion along their various boarders. They need room to grow they say, but the Brakiri call it an invasion. As it is now the Brakiri are in a tight situation. Shadows coming along one boarder and the Centauri along the other, now is not a good time to be a Brakiri. Luckily however it appears that the Centauri push has stopped. It appears that they are waiting for supplies and reinforcements and it just so happens that there is a Narn slave on the Centauri Homeworld who has access to where those supplies can be found for the right price that is. And so that battle begins. PLAYER #1 (Centauri): 2 Sulust Escort Frigates, 1 Centurion Attack Cruiser, 1 Lias Supply Ship, 1 Balvarin Carrier w/ 36 Sentri Fighters (but only 12 pilots as they are only re-supplying fighters) PLAYER #2 (Brakiri): 3 Avioki Heavy Cruisers SET UP: Map: ABC DEF Note: Float Map as needed Centauri are positioned as such: Centurion 2614 f3 speed 6 Balvarin 2514 f3 speed 6 Lias 2413 f3 speed 6 Sulust #1 2414 f3 speed 6 Sulust #2 2513 f3 speed 6 Fighters are in the Barn and pilots are not ready so they may not launch until the end of turn 4 (not that they'll be that effective) All Centauri except the Centurion are under jump delay (6 turns have gone by since last jump engine activation.) Brakiri are positioned as such: Avioki (all) 0303 f3 speed 8 They have just exited a jump point, one of the Avioki are under jump delay. VICTORY CONDITIIONS: Centauri - Escape with the Lias and Balvarin relatively still intact i.e. at least half of the cargo of each is still in tact. For the Lias this is represented in Cargo, while the Balvarin this is Fighters (or Hangers). Brakiri - Destroy Cargo of both the Lias and the Balvarin, through either the destruction of the ships or careful snipping. SPECIAL RULES: Flight Rules are in use (if applicable.) Called shots are in use. Surprise: Centauri are surprised. The sensors of both the Sulusts and the Centurion are both calibrated for long-range detection and as such they only have half their normal EW for the first turn. At the beginning of turn 2 the sensors are re-calibrated and are back to normal. Hyperspace: If the Centauri choose to jump out this need not be the end of the battle. The Brakiri may choose to follow and take the battle into hyperspace. Note the Centauri must be careful to get all their ships through the same jump point or else the Brakiri might have easy pickings. Moving to hyperspace is perfectly fine, simply transfer the ships through their respective jump point from real space to hyperspace. If you want to claim the distance is different in hyperspace than in real space, use 1 hex between jump points in real space equals 1/3 (1/4 or 1/5) in hyperspace and calculate distances as such. Use the rules for hyperspace as found in the B5 Core Rules. OPTIONS: Alternate Centauri Forces: Make 12 of the fighters being transported the new Rutarians. When fighter missiles are released you may choose to arm some of the Fighters with these. Possibly remove the Sulusts and add another Centurion and a Darknar. League Races: Try other League races. For instance 3 to 4 Drazi Sunhawks. Narn Version: 1 Arcismus Supply Ship, 2 Rongoth Destroyers, 1 T'Loth Assault Cruiser w/ 12 Gorath Medium Fighters and 12 Frazi Heavy Fighters (but only 12 Pilots) All should be under jump delay as above and pilots cannot launch till the end of turn 4 as above. COMMENTS Brakiri: Tough choices take out the big ships and get the primary targets later or do a hit and run and hope you don't get destroyed in the process. Some thoughts might want to take out the Centurions jump engines rather quickly if you don't want the battle to move into hyperspace. It will be tough but the Centauri could get all their ships through and escape that way however if they only allow the supply ships entry into hyperspace you should follow and take advantage of the fact that they are undefended. Centauri: You've got it easier you know what you have to do. Keep the supply ships on the defensive and send them away. Use the Centurion and Sulusts to engage the Brakiri you'll be out gunned but it might give you cargo the chance to pull far enough away. If the Brakiri ignore you make them pay for it. Depending upon whether the Graviton Weapons are interceptable, the Guardians might come in handy. Enjoy!!! Wraith
