Where We
Left Off..
Game Date: May 27th
(Week 16, day 6)
The party had just arrived at Kalinin after
their run-in with the Dark Princes pet Necromancer and his
friends. The party receives an extra 10Cr reward for killing the
Giant bandit. Gfand is upset because along the road he realized
hed dropped one of the books from Aldeberons home
when he was charged by one of the horseman.
At Kalinin, the party stays at an Inn (cost of
8P per night). In the morning, Gfand goes to the Mage Guild to
look up some things in their library.
That evening, when he returns to the party, he
says that hes found out a bit more about the Amulet, and
that he thinks he knows where it is. In one of Aldeberons
notebooks (unfortunately, the one he dropped), he remembers
seeing a reference to Aldeberon visiting the hermit Guru Amar
Das. Gfand recognized this name, and on a hunch did a bit of
research on the Guru - it turns out he was once a powerful Adept,
who withdrew from worldly affairs decades ago, and everyone
thought him to be dead. He apparently isnt, though, since
Aldeberons journal showed that hed visited him about
3 months ago, with a reference that "he will better know
what to do with It." Unfortunately, no one knows just where
the Guru established his hermitage. However, Gfand discovered
that one of the Gurus areas of interest was ancient
Nasikean artifacts and rituals. Furthermore, the Guru had been
involved in some way with the destruction of Demon worship cults
before his becoming a hermit. Gfand also found references to
three ritual uses of the Amulet:
- certain rituals of worship associated with
the Nasikean Sun-god Ra, which also typically required a
Golden Scarab beetle, and the gold Headpiece of Ra
(currently in the possession of the High Priest of Ra in
Nasik).
- certain rituals of resurrection, also
requiring the Book of Souls (only two copies known to
exist - one in the Library of Rakaia, and the other in
the possession of a powerful Mage in Damara. A third copy
is rumored to have existed but was lost in the city of
Qom during the last Wizard War), a sacred Jackal Cape of
Anubis (Nasikean god of the underworld), a virgin
sacrifice, and the Sacrificial Dagger of Anhk (Gfand has
no idea where that is supposed to be or what it looks
like).
- Demon worship rituals, also typically
requiring some sacrifices with a Sacrificial Dagger (The
Dagger of Anhk is mentioned several times)
Gfand believes the party should journey to
Mirzapur in Varan, as this was the home of Amar Das before he
became a hermit. Hopefully someone there will be able to provide
some idea of where to find him.
Rumors & News of Current Events (top)
- The Prince of Jhansibad has been
slowly going mad. A few weeks ago he was seen talking to
thin air! And before that, hed ordered the death of
one of his oldest and most trusted advisors! It is said
that his mother was part seeress, but she succumbed to a
madness that forced the old Prince to lock her away.
- A caravan just arrived from Khirkuk.
About a week ago it was attacked by a band of rogue
mercenaries. Fortunately, three Sword Saints happened
across the scene in time to save the caravan.
- The Plague has hit the town of Vorana,
killing all of the townsfolk!
- The prophet Krtahasta had a vision of
glowing red eyes peering out of the darkness and a large
battle in which thousands are killed. One of the banners
he "saw" in the vision was that of the missing
Damaran Legion.
- Part of a prophecy of unknown origin:
"When the Lion awakens, the earth shall tremble and
death will rain from the skies." Some people are
suggesting the Lion represents Damara (which has a Lion
on its banner), and that this is foretelling of a large
battle which will decide the fate of the Empire.
- High Horn (in Cormyr) fell to the
Legions of the Empire a couple of weeks ago. The Legions
were marching on to the capital, High Tower.
- Hundreds of dopplegangers invaded
Arrabar a week ago! Townsfolk were discovering that their
long-time neighbors had been murdered and replaced by

Praetorian garrison at Khyber.
