103. STEWARD
Stewards are the people who are charged with keeping everything running smoothly. They are the officials who run estates for their lords, manage the accounting for businesses, deal with a myriad of legalities, and handle miscellaneous affairs of court. In general, stewards know the ins and outs of the legal and political systems.
[103.1] At Rank 2, a steward must decide on an area to specialize in.
Stewards may specialize in: Laws, Heraldry, Estate Management, Accounting, Service (maids, butlers, wait-staff), or Government(bureaucrat). If they are attempting to use their abilities in a task which does not fall within their area of specialization, then they are treated as being one rank lower.
[103.2] Stewards are diplomatic and therefore more capable of dealing with officials.
A steward will be better able to smooth talk officials . They can increase the chance of a favorable reaction by 2% per rank when dealing with officials.
[103.3] Stewards will be able to organize and direct [Will Power x (Rank Squared) / 20] (round down) individuals in non-combat tasks.
Attempts to direct more people will have an increasing likelihood of running into problems. The efficiency of getting the task accomplished will decrease, so the completion will be of lower quality and require more time.
Some of the individuals under direction by a steward may be other stewards directing yet more people.
[103.4] Stewards will know who the appropriate person is to talk to in governments or organizations.
The chance of the Steward being able to immediately get in contact with the proper officials is ([2 x Will Power] + [5 x Rank])%. Even if they are unable to reach the person directly, they will be able to reduce the time needed to get the proper paperwork done and red-tape cut by [Rank squared]%.
[103.5] A Steward will have to pay (500 + [100 x Rank]) Silver Pennies per year to maintain image and their status.
Failure to do so means that the Steward will operate as if two Ranks less proficient.
