Phoenix might reside in a desert, but it still plays host to a number of farms and other agricultural ventures, including the well-known Schnepf Farms. Situated in Queen Creek — owner Mark Schnepf was actually a driving force in Queen Creek’s 1989 incorporation and its first mayor — it does take a bit of driving to get there, but you’ll find it well worth the trip.

Founded in the late 1960s as a regular farm, Schepf Farms now offers its quarter-million annual visitors a range of activities, seasonal celebrations and facilities for concerts, wedding and other events.

All year round, fresh-food lovers can participate in U-Pick, which lets you pick seasonal fruit and vegetables right from the tree or vine. There’s also the Country Store & Bakery, the Farmstand Cafe and Dinner Down in the Orchard for other fresh food experiences.

Throughout the year, Schnepf Farms hosts regular events like the famous Pumpkin & Chili Party with its massive corn maze, Winter Wonderland, the Peach Blossom Festival, Easter Egg-citement, July 4th and more. These often involved hay rides, carnival rides, tours through the orchards and fields, and plenty of yummy food.
